Botox + Dyosport

Tasteful Botox in Portland

Facial expression is one of the most essential non-verbal forms of communication and one we use the most often with repeated the muscle contractions that share the universal tone of emotion. Amazingly, Facial muscles never lose their strength. However, our skin thins over time, and its supportive tissue weakens, making it harder to rebound from years of emotive muscular patterns.

As a result, we begin to see these patterns in the form of wrinkles and folds, which neuromodulators can smooth. As your trusted provider of Dysport and Botox in Portland, we focus on achieving natural but visible results.

Botox

Botox temporarily impedes nerve signals to the muscle fibers when injected into the treatment area, neutralizing the contraction reaction. We choose to use Botox because it contains a higher concentration of neuromodulator and has consistent, long-lasting results. This equates to reliable natural results without excess units injected, saving our patients from unnecessary costs.

Don’t be surprised if you walk out of your treatment with visible wrinkles: Botox typically begins to take effect within five to seven days, with maximum results achieved at day fourteen. At this point, you’ll begin to notice a nice refresh, a brightening of the eyes, and a significant reduction of lines.

Dyosport

Dysport’s potency and longevity are competitive with Botox. However, there are a few key differences: Dysport has a touch more spread, which makes it a smart option for larger treatment areas like the forehead. Its effects begin to become apparent within 2 to 3 days, so the gratification isn’t instant, but it’s close!

FAQ: Botox & Dyosport

What areas does Botox treat?

Treatment areas include the lines between the brows, the lines extending from the eyes when smiling—crow’s feet, the jaw muscle for TMJ or teeth grinding and clenching, the forehead lines, the muscles that cause chin dimpling—orange peel chin, gummy smile, neck lines, and platysmal bands.

Are the injections painful?

Pain thresholds tend to vary depending on the individual. However, most Aluma clients report that they experience very little pain because we use a small-gauged insulin needle, comparable to the ones used in acupuncture treatments.

How much does treatment cost?

The average cost range is $325 to $650, depending on the number of areas treated and the units required per area.

How is Dysport different from Botox?

Botox and Dysport are quite similar. Both are derived from botulinum toxin; however, they are molecularly different. Dysport takes effect sooner than Botox and has a different unit conversion rate than Botox; typically, three units of Dysport equals one unit of Botox. Some clients have a clear preference, while others do not. Botox and Dysport are priced the same at Aluma, with Dysport units being converted into Botox Equivalent Units, and have comparable outcomes, duration, and efficacy.

Before & After Care

How should I prepare for my Botox or Dysport treatment?

There are important things to keep in mind before this treatment:

  • We can clean the injection site the day of your treatment, or you can come in with a clean face, free of topical products.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, or blood-thinning medications.
  • If getting Botox for an event, plan 4 weeks in advance to ensure results are achieved and fine-tuned if needed.
How will my face look afterward?

The most common reaction is mild swelling from the actual product bolus, which absorbs within 15 minutes, at which point the inflammation dissipates. There may be occasional pinpoint bleeding.

What should I do in terms of aftercare?

We always provide written aftercare instructions with your treatment. But, in general, avoid applying pressure or manipulating the area treated for 48 hours. Avoid strenuous exercise as this may wash the neuromodulator from its receptor sites. You may gently apply makeup and wash your face, wiping upward and away from the eyes and brows.

Final results typically last three to four months, depending on the amount used. Higher dosages of units tend to last longer.
