Kybella
Melt Chin Fat With Kybella Injections in Portland
Submental fullness (or a double chin) can occur for a number of reasons. Genetics often plays a role in the accumulation of fat in this area. Increased skin laxity and jaw bone loss associated with aging can also contribute.
Kybella
Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a natural molecule in our bodies that dissolves fat cells by disrupting their cell membrane. It is injected into the pockets of fat below the jawline and under the chin to improve jawline definition and reduce the appearance of a double chin.
At Aluma, we offer name-brand Kybella and the generic version to make the treatment more affordable.
FAQ: Kybella
How long does Kybella last?
The medication in Kybella, deoxycholic acid, permanently breaks down fat. As long as you do not gain significant weight, the fat cells destroyed will remain so permanently.
Is Kybella painful?
A mild to moderate amount of discomfort is associated with the injection, which peaks after a few minutes and dissipates quickly. Most people report feeling some degree of burning, stinging, or pressure as the medication is injected into the treatment area. This discomfort is best managed with icing pre- and post-injection.
How many treatments will I need?
A typical treatment involves two to four vials of Kybella. For noticeable correction, three to five treatments are needed.
How much is a Kybella treatment?
Each treatment costs between $750 to $2000, depending on the number of vials required for the treatment area and if brand name or generic deoxycholic acid is used.
Before & After Care
How should I prepare for my Kybella treatment?
We recommend taking 1,000 mg of Tylenol 45 minutes before your appointment to minimize treatment discomfort.
How long does Kybella swelling last?
Injecting Kybella causes the fat cells in the treatment area to break down, resulting in inflammation and moderate swelling. The inflammation is desirable as it leads to new collagen formation, helping the skin tighten over time. The swelling typically peaks five to seven days after treatment and subsides quickly thereafter.
How long does Kybella take to work?
Kybella, a treatment used to reduce submental fat (double chin), typically takes several weeks to months to show noticeable results. Optimal results occur after a series of three to five treatments, spaced about one month apart.
