What is dermal filler made of?
All the dermal fillers injected at Aluma are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar molecule found in the body that helps keep skin hydrated, plump, and supported. As we age, our hyaluronic acid (HA)levels decline, leading to volume loss and folds. Additionally, most HA dermal fillers contain a small amount of lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers are not permanent. Most hyaluronic acid dermal fillers last 12 to 15 months, depending on your body’s metabolism and the cross-linking technology used. The amount of cross-linking can affect duration, with Juvederm Voluma known to last the longest of FDA-approved dermal fillers, 18-24 months.
How much do dermal fillers cost?
Dermal filler treatments are typically the most costly at the initial visit, as this is when foundational volume and structure are created. After that, most patients only need maintenance treatments to preserve their results. Pricing ranges from $850–$900 per syringe, with a reduced per-syringe rate applied to multiple-syringe treatments.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Yes. Dermal fillers are safe when performed by a skilled injector with a strong understanding of facial anatomy and the depths of facial tissue. Incorrect placement can lead to complications, so choosing an experienced provider is essential for both safety and natural-looking results.
How should I prepare for my dermal filler treatment?
Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face; a light moisturizer is acceptable as the treatment areas will be properly cleansed before injection. Taking Tylenol about 45 minutes prior to the appointment can help increase comfort, although all fillers used contain lidocaine to minimize discomfort.
Is there downtime after treatment?
Often, clients return to their normal activities on the day of treatment. Minimal swelling and tenderness are expected for a day or two. Sometimes, slight bruising at the injection site occurs.
Can dermal fillers be reversed?
Yes, dermal fillers can be reversed. Fillers made with hyaluronic acid can be safely dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid in the filler, allowing the body to naturally absorb it and restore the area to its pre-filler state.
